Project overview

In September 2011, the London Borough of Haringey resolved to grant planning permission to the National Grid for the redevelopment of the former Clarendon Gasworks for residential and commercial use. The site covers an area of 4.83 hectares near Wood Green Town Centre.

In March 2015, the site was incorporated into the St William Joint Venture (Berkeley Homes and National Grid). An alternative masterplan was then designed by Panter Hudspith Architects to enhance value and create a high quality residential-led, mixed-use development of 1,700 new homes with commercial floorspace including a new civic square.

Our Approach

Vectos was involved in both schemes, providing transport consultancy. A key part of the new proposal was to create a higher density development in this accessible location to address London Borough of Haringey’s evolving plans.

We have helped create a significantly enhanced new streetscape with pedestrians and cyclists as the principal users. This provides access for residents and visitors, but discourages through traffic, and creates a social space for new residents.
