Vectos joins forces with SLR

We’re pleased to announce that on Wednesday 3 March Vectos merged with SLR, a global environmental and advisory solutions business.

The foundation for this decision was based on a unique cultural connection between our firms where our relationships with our clients, our commitment to our communities, and our collaboration among industry groups form the basis of our practices.

This is the next step for both us and SLR to strengthen links between areas such as mobility, air quality, health and wellbeing, at a time when clients and markets are responding at an unprecedented pace to the climate emergency and the accompanying need for more sustainable development. We are an environmental mobility and infrastructure company merging with a multi-disciplinary environmental and advisory solutions company.

Nothing will change for our clients from a services point of view. In fact, teaming up allows us to offer more complete and integrated planning services. SLR shares our ethos of delivering sustainable solutions to projects of all scales and impacts, so we will continue to serve all of our clients, both big and small.

SLR is a UK-based firm with more than 1,700 employees located in offices throughout the UK, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Namibia, Canada, and the US. Over the last 10 years Vectos has grown to a 150-strong organisation, which will now make up approximately 30% of the European SLR business.

Transport planning and infrastructure services were already part of SLR’s offer but they want to strengthen both areas significantly. They saw us as the perfect partner to bolster this expertise by bringing our research and expert knowledge to offer a more complete and innovative service.

Our microsimulation modelling and our future mobility research and demonstration businesses are new services for SLR. We are particularly excited about combining our modelling expertise with specialist SLR air quality, acoustics and carbon management services to develop new pioneering modelling tools to bring forward more schemes more sustainably.

Vectos Managing Director Mike Axon said he is thrilled about the potential this unlocks now and in the years to come.

“Every interaction with SLR has reinforced that we share a common vision, values and views on social impacts. It has been evident from the outset that they are the right partner and that now is the right time. It wasn’t a decision about selling Vectos; it was a decision to merge Vectos with SLR. That is an incredibly important distinction,” Mike said.

“Going forward our goals and vision remain unchanged. We will design, plan and model smart, integrated, multi-modal, low carbon transportation solutions. SLR shares our vision to lead the way in mobility and infrastructure solutions and deliver a valuable and lasting contribution to society through the creation of healthy, sustainable and resilient places.”

SLR CEO Neil Penhall said he is delighted to welcome the Vectos team to SLR.

“Together we share a clear vision and values on how we can help our clients achieve their sustainability goals. The Vectos team will considerably enhance our services in transport planning and infrastructure design,” Neil said.
